by Masha on January 21, 2010

I can’t help but write again about BZ Bee Russian food market in San Mateo. This is now my go-to shop to fulfill my Russian food cravings. I go to BZ Bee at least once a week these days. Every time I go find what I am looking for – fresh Russian bread, neatly cut Olivie salad, or whatever else I could possible want that day. BZ Bee is conveniently located on El Camino Real close to 92.

Golden Grain Russian Groceries and Deli

by Masha on January 21, 2010

I have previously wrote about Russian General Store in Houston. Thanks to your, my dear readers, recommendations in response to that post, I have decided to check out Golden Grain Russian Groceries and Deli in Houston, TX. I was pleasantly surprised by this store. Very good selection, fresh meats, produce, and baked products left me quite satisfied. I would highly recommend this store.

I found a few other reviews on B4-U-EAT as well: http://www.b4-u-eat.com/houston/restaurants/reviews/rsv4057.asp

Babushka’s Deli

by Masha on July 16, 2009

Natalya from Indianapolis recommended me Babushka’s Deli store in Indianapolis. I found mixed reviews about this store. Some people say that they find everything they need in this store, but others happened to get some spoiled products from here. Come to think about it, every store will have something that expired on the back of the shelf once in a blue moon. Please don’t get discouraged, just make sure to check expiration date on the package. This advice is not for just Russian food though. ;)

Looking for Russian food and groceries in Fremont? Thanks to you, the reader, I have recently found out about another Russian supermarket in East Bay. I have lived in Fremont for some time and still visit it pretty often, but I have never heard about Gastronom Kiev before (also referred to as Fremont Liquor & European Grocery).

Gastronom is open 10 am – 8 pm everyday except Sunday when it’s open 12 pm to 5 pm. It is located in the heart of Fremont – on State street – and offers anything a Russian heart would desire – produce, dairy, Russian bread, Russian sweets and spirits, and more. They accept Visa, MasterCard, and cash payment methods.

I drove by this place every day without really noticing it. Until they put up a huge red and black sign that said “Russian goods” (in Russian). I stopped by the store to check it out. It is interesting how a variety of Mexican, Russian, and European foods come together to form a broad selection of foods that can be found in no other store. This market has all the essentials I usually buy – dairy, produce, sweets, meats, and the rest. The only thing I did not find was batonchiki – Russian soy candy.

Your opinion matters!

by Masha on July 30, 2008

Dear reader,

I have been writing my reviews for over 2 years now. I asked for your help in reviewing restaurants and adding new ones to my blog. There are, however, a few questions that I have not asked you yet:

  • Is there anything that I can do, in your opinion, to improve my reviews and help you in choosing a restaurant or a store to visit?
  • Is there any information that you would find helpful that I could add?
  • Do you like the way my website is organized? Could you suggest any improvements?
  • Do you have any information needs related to Russian food that are not yet fulfilled?

Please leave your feedback in comments to this post, or send me an email. Your help will be greatly appreciated and will help me to serve you better.

Regards,

Masha

by Masha on July 2, 2008

Perestroyka is a Russian supermarket in Leicester, UK. It’s a one stop shop for wine, champagne, traditional grocery items, and Russian food dishes. This place actually has a feel of Russian supermarkets in times of perestroika. It is highly recommended if you are craving for some good wine and pirozhki.
